My co teacher and I wanted to have a little fun this past St. Patrick’s Day and decided to “trick” our preschoolers into thinking leprechauns visited our classroom. We tipped over chairs, knocked over toys, littered toilet paper all around the bathroom ( clean of course), left little leprechaun foot prints and scattered notes for the children to discover. The scenario brought up discussions about leprechauns. The children got a big kick out of it all the leprechaun shenanigans but one little boy wondered if the leprechauns will make a visit his house and do the same thing. He was hoping they would so he could catch them. I asked, “Why do you want to catch one”? “I want to hear what they sound like”, he answered enthusiastically. His friend chimed in my saying, “If you do catch one, don’t believe anything they say. Leprechauns like to trick people so they can’t catch their gold”! Needless to say, the leprechauns did not visit his house. So, now he is off wondering how he can catch the Easter bunny….
